Imagine yourself as the president of one of the most powerful countries in the world. You are traveling to another place and suddenly, your secretariat informs an attack have occurred. You return home and see all kind of damages they have created. It is aall on ruins, people bleeding, chaos, etc. This story became true to president George W. Bush on September 9, 2001, and to Carlos Salinas de Gortari on January 1st, 1994. While speaking their speech, they both wanted to be humble, clam, and seem like all was under their control. During this essay I will compare how George W. Bush is more humble, human, and keeps more in touch with the people; than Carlos Salinas de Gortari.

In January the first, EZLN (Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional) attacked Tuxtla Gutiérrez in the south part of México. EZLN fought for the native rights. The Mexican president made a great deal with Canada and the United States of America named Free Trade Agreement which in a way or another, affected native people rights. During his speech, he says three important points. Chiapa's capital affected by violence, all the effort that has been destroyed in some hours, and the ways of solving the problem. On his first key point, he says, "Una organización emergió para atacar a la población, ellos son profesionales de la violencia." First of all, he calls the EZLN people violent people. I think, by using these words, he makes the citizens feel insecure because there is not a lot of security to protect them. He is also insulting Chiapa's people because most of the native persons work for the EZLN. Salinas tries to make feel ...............

On the other hand, George W. Bush says a speech which is more human and stays more in touch with the people in such a difficult time. The main purpose of the speech is to inform the citizens about the 9/11 attack, remain calm and do not loose the hope. On his first key point he informs and makes emphasis on how the people's life changed. He explains that the United States of America was a peaceful country and had no problem with another one. "Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of terrorist acts." Tries to convince the people that the terrorists attacked for no reason. "Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. He also gives example of the jobs from the people to show how much destruction have made. Demonstrate that the attack affected everyone, from a mother to a businessman. On his first key point, he also says that s lot of people have been moved to defend that great nation. On his second key point, Bush tries to make people feel proud for their country by telling them that "America is strong". He says no matter what, United States Of America would stay strong. "Our financial institutions remain strong and Te American economy will be open for for business as well. George Bush, as I said before, make people feel proud of their country by telling them the reason why the terrorists attacked. "We're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world". I like a lot the phrase "Terrorists can shake he foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundations of America". On his third key point, he wants the country unite and take actions as one. If the country wants to super ate this incident, they must work together and help each other. He says, "I ask for your prayers for all of those who grieve [...]" in tejos parase, he uses the religion to make people believe in a supernatural person which will help them to recreate all the destruction the terrorist made. Bush also wants to make something important every  9/11 of every year, so the people remember the devastation they made not only to New York City, but to The United States of America. He also resembles that they will help each other's because they have one mission, defend freedom and the lives of the people "None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good in the world."

In conclusion, I think and defend my opinion which is bard that George W. Bush is better when taking to the citizens than Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The first one, makes the country feel as one so they can superstar the incident. The Mexican president just informs the citizens what had happened and what the government will do to solve the attack. The biggest difference I see, is that Bush creates a day where the people will remember all the life's ended by evil, while Salinas de Gortari only makes the people feel better for two or three days.

Carlos Salinas de Gortari is a mexican economist and politician affiliated to PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party). He was the president of Mexico from 1988 to 1994. He is considered a rat because he stole a lot of Mexico´s money.

Compatriotas:

Muchas gracias.

English Homework

Placing a dialect on a story is really helpful. It makes the reading more interesting because characters speak as they should. If you are reading a story from Mexico City that has dialects on it, and you live on Mexico City, you will feel identified with the reading because you will know the meaning of every dsingle word and you will feel you are talking to someone else. It is also helpful because the reading has a more extended vocabulary. While reading, you will have to search some words you dont know, This will increase your vocabulary and make a more cultural person.

While writing a text you must connect ideas so the text make sense. This is a difficult activity becasue you must have a extense conector vocabulary. If you place some dialects, it will be easer for the reader to understand you text.

When I read Mark Twain, I had some problems. I didn't uderstood some words. I secarh them on the dictionary, but most of the didn't appear. I asked my teacher so I can understand and it make the reading more fun. nowing new words only used in a certain place is an interesting activity. The text had some gramatical mistakes, for example, there were some points on places they shouldn't be.

All of these stylistic tricks, made the reading fun, I understood the reading from a different pint of view. I kenw what do the characters mean with a word. If you want to maker good story that people feel identified whith, use stylistics tricks.

Hey folks, today I am going to tell you a story! Hope you like it!

So the story starts with Julius Warren, a captain of a steam paddle boat. I must say he is not a captain of any steam paddle boat, he is the captain of "Sultana", one of the biggest  boats on the whole Mississippi River. Today, Warren is making a trip from the north of the United States to the south. It is a dangerous journey because on the middle 1800´s, the Civil War was taking place.
The voyage starts on January 26th of 1863. So many people bought a ticket. The boat was on its maximum capacity. There was a lot of mess, people coming, shouting, celebrating, dancing, singing, etc. It was a shiny day, and there was low tide. The boat set sail at 8:00 a.m. and was supposed to be at New Orleans the Febraury 9th. It was a really good journey while the boat was on the north part of the U.S.A
People on the boat had fun. There a lot of activities, some were playing cards, other were eating, drinking tea, looking at the river, or just arguing about the future of the country and war. The was always served at 6:00 p.m. and the breakfast at 8:00 a.m. They always served french toast and a cup of coffee. Most of the passengers were businessman who woul try to convince the southern people to free the slaves and make more use of electric machines.
One day, the boat was near the middle of the U.S.A. As I told on the begining of the story, this was a dangerous trip because southern people controled all the boast that crossed the northern line. It was about 7:00 a.m. when some passengers woke up to look on the windows, what was the cause of a metalic noise, caming from the bottom of the boat. Some people shouted while others faint. There were around 8 crocodiles sorrounding the boat. It was nothing to care about, but people were really frightened. Captain Warren took action and acelerate the speed of the boat.
On Febraury the 4th, some ligths were seen in the darkness. Within every minute, the lights came to get bigger and bigger. There were only two explanations for a boat in the southern part of the country at midnight. Another steamboat returning to the norht, or the Confederation boats. Suddenly the sound of shooting canyons were listened far, but the sound came closer and closer. The boat started to stagger, and people started to scream. There were other eight sound of canyons and the boat started to sink. People were drowning and crying. The Confederation boats attacked Sultana.
That was the night were more than 1800 people died on the Sultana steamboat because it blew up, and after, sink.
